Berwick street Records launch party: interview with Timo Garcia

kurrage:
All right Timo Garcia we are outside the Industry bar for the launch of your record label, I say yours but I don’t know that much about it. What’s the record label called and what exactly is it going to offer us?
Timo Garcia:
It’s called Berwick street Records and it is going to offer you a mixture of house music going on through to electro. The party tonight is all about every kind of quality music from disco, funk through to house and electro, so it going to span everything, but the label itself will be releasing just house & electro.
kurrage:
What separates your label from all the others out there?
Timo Garcia:
We have the worst luck in the world with timing. hehe that’s all we got haha!!
kurrage:
Are there any funny things that have happened over the last couple of weeks before the launch?
Timo Garcia:
Yeah funny you should mention that actually... we got bombed twice in two attempts so, no we didn’t personally and I do feel sorry for everyone that did get involved but we did have to postpone the first party and today was looking very dodgy at one point, but we pulled through and we got the core of the people on the guestlist so we still having a good party.
Kurrage:
Who else is involved with your label?
Timo Garcia:
There's 2 other guys, there is Keith and Dan....Dan I met through Keith but Keith I have known for about 10 years... caught him kicking down a door in a hostel in France because he couldn’t work the lock and I showed him to work the French style lock. He felt a bit embarrassed but we hit it off after and had a few gigs out there, spent a bit of time djing together so ten years later we meet up again and decide to start something up.
Kurrage:
What kind of artists can we look forward to hearing on the label?
Timo Garcia:
At the moment I have got...
Kurrage:
Anyone we know of or...
Timo Garcia:
You maybe have heard of Deepgroove, they are doing the underground scene - big kind of cross over house and electro, they got the dirty beats, I have got them involved in a remix which you heard earlier downstairs.. Oh no you haven’t heard earlier. That was a track I made and they have done a deepgroove edit and I will play that later. Jason Randolph who is currently in L.A but he's coming over here and will be doing a remix of the 1st track we released tonight (name of track) but we are still waiting for it to get pressed up and then on the horizon we got people like Heath from Throb and a few other artists that I am waiting for stuff from.
Kurrage:
Some good things going to be coming up then....
Kurrage:
Who you looking forward to hearing tonight?
Timo Garcia:
Oh mate I am disappointed as Bill Brester and Marky couldn’t turn up, but as far as I have seen everybody else has turned up and been wonderful so far and there are a few more coming so it’s all good, I just hope I can drop one more track because the timing has been a bit screwed for obvious reasons. I just want to get on there and play one more track for you all...

So where do you see things going over the next few couple of months?
Timo Garcia:
To Russia 16th September - I am going to releasing the 2nd track and that’s going to be in Russia - so to Russia with love...
Kurrage:
Where can people find out more about what's coming on the label, is there a website, email addresses that sort of thing so we can find out more info when were looking?
Timo Garcia:
We got couple of websites, we got www.timogarcia.com which is my own site which will have a few bits of information on it and in a few weeks we will have www.berwickstreetrecords.com and everything will be up on there.

Timo Garcia:
Kurrage is going to represent at the next Berwick street party, kurrage will be up there with the 1st...
