Feedle - Leave Now For Adventure

Release Date: 26th March

The new year is here and to mark this, Illicit Recordings are proud to present this superbly crafted debut album ‘Leave now for Adventure’, from the Sheffield based artist Feedle.

The original incarnation of this album was released by the MP3 label SVC in 2006. Despite only being available via download it still managed to attract the attention and support from Huw Stephens and Steve Lamacq on Radio One to Stuart Maconie at BBC6 Music.

All this buzz highlighted Feedles talents to London based indie record Label Illicit Recordings who have since lovingly remastered the LP and added extra songs making this official release a very different beast from it’s online cousin. ‘Leave Now for Adventure’ is the tale of one man’s dogged pursuit of the finest electronic melodies, ragged drunken beats and howling noise. Feedle, like Kevin Shields and Mogwai before him, posesses the rare ability to transform extreme noise into something quite beautiful, as demonstrated by it’s opening track and first single ‘Song for Dogs’, a squealing, roaring, distorted racket underpinned by subtle melodies lurking beneath the white noise and drums.

His diversity on this album ranges from the subtle, eerie lull of ‘The Cold Pause Strings’ to the hypnotic ‘Go Home! Revolving Piano’ which is played solely on the piano. Elsewhere, ‘Burn The Fields’ is music for torching your home to, an incendiary crackle of superfuzz and portentous key changes, which eventually yields to plaintive pianos – sublime! ‘This Troubles All Dust’, with it’s perky folk-guitar licks, pounding drums and bah-bah-bah vocal refrain, features the only sung segment to occur anywhere on the album, with a vocal delivery reminiscent of Syd Barret or Graham Coxon.

The album has been described as ‘like Fennesz remixed by the Flaming Lips’ which is a suitably nonsencial way to try and pigeonhole a record that refuses to sit still, as intricate electronic noise rubs shoulders with frazzled psychedelia.

To mark the albums release, Feedle will be playing special live shows complimented by a full visual display from a very special collaborator so watch this space…
