Part Time Heroes - Realise EP

Release date: October 30th, 2006

"Highly rated, watch out for them!" Gilles Peterson

The 'Realise EP' is Mums The Word's debut release by the amazing Part Time Heroes! Drawing comparisons to St.Germain, Cinematic Orchestra, Koop and Zero 7 this EP (already supported by Radio 1's Gilles Peterson) is an exciting, eclectic and fresh journey over different tempos, incorporating live instrumentation, deep jazz roots and organic soul nourishing goodness.

Stunning opening track 'Realise' features the sublime vocal talents of regular heroes vocalist Jono McCleery riding a tide of widescreen jazz. The instrumental 'Brandon Heights' is awash with riffs, building with piano, bass, flute and brass to a culmination of merging melody lines. 2006 BBC 'Jazz Vocalist Of The Year' Liane Carroll guests on the swingingly upbeat 'Shadowlands' while Lucy Kitchen sings the blues on the down-tempo, cinematic 'All This Time'. No B-sides here – all the tracks stand up on their own as singular pieces of aural art.

The Part Time Heroes are two undisclosed young musicians currently residing in the leafy suburbs of Southampton. Although their names are not known to the masses, their music soon will be, as this part-time shop assistant and part-time sandwich deliveryman, plan to convert their part-time music careers into full-time employment. Both heroes have a deep history in a variety of genres, sharing influences from Miles Davis to Bob Marley to The Clash, and both now share the same landlord. For various reasons the duo found themselves sharing a flat together at the turn of 2005 and after many late night conversations, lengthy musical debates and story-telling sessions, the duo that had now become good friends decided it was only right to combine their two studios. The short move from each other's respected bedrooms to the 'the lounge' took place and a new production partnership was born.

Having held their music down, working away juggling day jobs, they've manage to contribute music to an recent MTV advert plus remixing the likes of MJ Cole, Yungun, N'Dambi, Monday Michiru, Fania All-Stars and Citizen Cope (Sony/BMG) to name a few. Continuing to build on their success & fan-base over recent months they have deejayed across the UK & Europe & rocked the main stage LIVE at the Big Chill Festival (w/ string quartet assistance).

The dynamite duo also release 'slightly more dancefloor aimed music' under their 'PTH Projects' alias. Released on Wah Wah 45s Records 'Pretend Paradise' feat. Liane Carroll and 'Thin Air' feat. Laura Vane sold out within a week, with the limited edition and highly sought after remix of Citizen Cope's 'Bullet and a Target' also turning the heads of many a top DJ.

The heroes won't stop until their work is done!
